The Times They Are A-Changin’: AI’s Powerful Winds Sweeping Across Higher Education, was published in the Fall/Winter 2024-25 issue of the Dakota Digital Review

In the article, Professor Datzov argues that there will be three key aspects to harness the power of AI winds and bring higher education into the future: (1) attention, (2) adaptation and (3) implementation. He maintains that it is important for all faculty in all disciplines to be informed about its capabilities and to be intentional about its use, regardless of whether they are using it, not using it, or how you are using it. In the article, he explains that while there is no doubt that AI has introduced powerful new ways to aid student learning, it has also presented ominous threats to derail pedagogical objectives. His takeaway is that being informed and intentional helps put faculty in the driver’s seat as much as possible.
