Summer 2024

Message from Dean Pappas

Dear UND Law Community,

As summer begins to wind down, I hope you have found time to relax and enjoy the warm weather.

The School of Law has been under construction this summer. The roof of the original building has been replaced for the first time in 100 years. Additionally, the original building’s foundation has been waterproofed this summer. Beautiful new windows have been installed in the VandeWalle Courtroom and the ceiling is being refinished.

This Sunday, August 18, we will welcome the UND School of Law Class of 2027 to campus with a Convocation ceremony at the Chester Fritz Auditorium. Convocation is the formal beginning of their legal academic journey. It serves as the ceremonial start for new students, just as commencement serves as the ceremonial finish. We are privileged to have The Honorable Kristi Venhuizen, North Dakota District Court Judge for the Northeast Central Judicial District, deliver the convocation address.

We are excited to host the Oscar & Amelia Fode Memorial Law Lecture on Thursday, August 22 during new student orientation. The Honorable Igor Tuleya, District Court Judge for the Warsaw District Court will deliver the lecture in the VandeWalle Courtroom at 4:00 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

Our second and third-year students will return the week of August 26 and classes will officially be in full swing at the law school. We are looking forward to the fall semester and the year to come.

Thank you for your continued support, encouragement, and engagement.

Sincerely,

Brian
