The workshop was organized by the Association for International Energy Negotiators (AIEN), which was sponsored and hosted by White & Case LLP, in Miami, Florida on Friday, June 2, 2023.
Professor Oyewunmi’s paper examined the role of institutions and contractual arrangements in mitigating the impact of conflicts and crises on energy security, especially regarding the security of supply in international oil and gas markets. The working paper is based on his book chapter on ‘Security Implications of Conflicts, Crises, and Disasters in the International Energy Industry: Legal and Policy Considerations’ in Susan Breau & Katja Samuel (eds), Research Handbook on Disasters and International Law, (Edward Elgar, 2016) and the second edition of the book is forthcoming soon.
The Kleinman Center for Energy Policy recently published Professor Oyewunmi’s article, “Underground Property Rights for Carbon Capture” in their Energy Insights Newsletter https://kleinmanenergy.upenn.edu/news-insights/underground-property-rights-for-carbon-capture/. He presented on the topic at the Berkeley/Penn Energy Law Scholars Workshop hosted by UC Berkeley and Penn’s Kleinman Center for Energy Policy in Berkley, CA on May 18th
